Weather Facts and Fun ReviewWe have 2 kids, age 8 and 11 and they both loved this book. My kids (especially the older one) are very "hit and miss" when it comes to books... they both took to this one! The reading level and explanations were perfect not only for kids, but for me too, ha ha! We learned a lot and also loved how it seemed like this book was written for us since it seems to be all about New England weather. We especially liked reading about Noreaster storms and tornadoes. I would recommend this book to anyone who has kids and even adults who love weather and want to learn more about it.I also have a friend who homeschools, I told her about this book and she bought it to use in teaching science lessons... since it meets the criteria required.Weather Facts and Fun OverviewWeather Facts and Fun is an interactive, educational, fun look at weather by one of New England's pre-eminent meteorologists, Josh Judge and award-winning NH schoolteacher Kathe Cussen.Written in a manner meant to be understandable to 7-11 year olds, the ninety-eight pages in the book even offer adults information that they may not have known before - for instance, the difference between sleet and hail. Over ninety pictures (many in full-color) show weather at its most beautiful and most destructive. Two foldout maps in the back and challenges at the end of each chapter offer readers the chance to learn about the weather while doing fun activities. For instance, you can learn how to preserve snowflakes forever with two common household items!Concentrating on New Hampshire and New England weather, the book meets or exceeds all NH teaching requirements and recommendations. However, the lessons and activities in the book are also meant to be relevant and educational anywhere.Author and former PBS host Richard Lederer writes the foreword for the book.Weather Facts and Fun is sure to delight kids, please teachers and be a welcome addition to any household with curious children.
