I am totally done with any book that offers "Twelve, Ten, Nine or Three Steps" to anything. And honestly, I really don't want to go out and buy another 'Christian' book, sorry. A friend gave me this book. One night I was bored and picked it up and started to read it hoping I would doze off after a few pages. Two days later my wife had to ask me why I couldn't put "that book" down. I had to say because "This guy is being honest...about everything..everything he says is true." Then I couldn't stop 'gushing' she said. She snuck it away from me when I was re-reading it for the third time and read it herself. Yoder nails it...us. In "Bond of Brothers", he has said all the things we wouldn't say, couldn't say or thought we shouldn't say. As men, especially, he confesses what we all felt. Nobody prepared us for this. My dad never even broached some of these subjects. It was like I was somehow just supposed to know these things about life, relationships, God, my identity and how to relate to my wife and sons and I was the only man who didn't know the 'secret.' It turns out that I'm not the only one. I don't want to 'gush', but where was this book forty years ago? Now I've bought several copies and given them away. My sons, my friends and any man who comes to me with needs or looking for advice or just going through rough times have and will receive "Bond of Brothers." There is no formula here. There is no easy fix. But there is truth. Written from the heart. And that, my brother is rare indeed.
