eXtreme New England Weather ReviewI just got the book and read it cover to cover. I love weather and this book delivered for me. Each chapter has a different type of New England severe weather and I learned a lot about how the weather happens. Then each chapter also has the complete history of storms here in the area, and it went back into the 1800s.
There are also lots of people's stories in the book, including many of the TV weather guys and gals that I grew up watching (and still do).
If you like weather and storms I would highly recommend this book, it's a home run.eXtreme New England Weather OvervieweXtreme New England Weather is a pictorial chronicle of the events surrounding the greatest storms to hit New England since 1888. The stories and pictures cover such historic events as the hurricane of 1938, the Blizzard of 1978, 1991 s Perfect Storm, the Great Ice Storm of 2008 and lots more. Extreme New England Weather contains 212 pages and over 350 images from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Told in pictures and stories from both celebrities and ordinary people, this book hits with impact, imparts knowledge and delights with humor. Josh Judge s distinctive voice is joined by featured contributions by his colleagues from Storm Watch 9, a flurry of other meteorologists, weather scientists and others from every state in New England. Meteorologists contributing their real-life storm stories to extreme New England Weather include Bruce Schwoegler, Mike Haddad, Harvey Leonard, Mish Michaels, Dick Albert, Bob Maxon and many more. It also includes the transcript of a previously unreleased interview with the late Don Kent, often referred to as Boston's first TV Weatherman, interviewed by NH author Eric Pinder. Also included in the book... An entire chapter on Mount Washington, with New England's worst weather, by the Mount Washington Observatory, NH How to keep your family safe when extreme weather hits your home!ÂÂA section on how lightning strikes effect jets while in flight, written by Jeff Sullivan, a 20+ year veteran lead aircraft mechanic at a major airline at Logan Airport. Stories from ordinary people around New England who have been struck by lightning, and the experience they went through. Have you ever wondered how meteorologists predict the weather with those computer models? John Kelley, one of the people who work for NOAA and design those computer models, writes the last chapter of the book. He explains how they work. Pictures of the famous snowball game contributed by The New England Patriots. Josh s Judge-ment for the Top Ten Weather Myths!
