The Atmosphere: An Introduction to Meteorology (8th Edition) ReviewLutgens and Tarbuck made this a very readable text by writing in a stratightforward manner and by focusing on fundamental principles. The typical non-science major undergrad or general reader should be able to grasp the important concepts, while the more scientifically literate readers will find plenty of material to wrap their minds around. For example, much of the quantitative stuff is presented in separate boxes, for those who want to go beyond the basics as presented in the text. The illustrations by Dennis Tasa are, of course, excellent, as are most of the photos. I used this text for a weather and climate class I taught and would use it again. The Atmosphere: An Introduction to Meteorology (8th Edition) OverviewFor introductory courses in Introduction to Meteorology, Introduction to Weather and Climate, and Introduction to the Atmosphere, in departments of Geography, Physical Sciences, Meteorology, Earth Sciences, Geology, and Physics. This student-friendly text offers a current and comprehensive introduction to the atmosphere-its components, problems, and applications. It contains easy-to-understand and everyday examples that reinforce basic concepts and related science principles.

Meteorology for Scientists and Engineers ReviewThis is the most complete introductory-advanced book I have seen to date. It covers many pertinient subjects. Important meteorological concepts are explained in enough detail to satisfy even the more advanced users, but simple enough to give the beginner excellent insight. These concepts do not have to be presented in a difficult fashion to make the author appear intelligent - he makes a bold, simple statement by taking tough concepts and making them understandable to the masses!Meteorology for Scientists and Engineers OverviewThe Second Edition of Roland Stull's METEOROLOGY FOR SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS lets professors quantify the concepts in Ahren's METEOROLOGY TODAY, SEVENTH EDITION like never before. This book can serve as a technical companion to Ahren's text or as a stand-alone text. It provides the mathematical equations needed for a higher level of understanding of meteorology. The organization is mapped directly to the Ahrens book, making Stull's text a perfect companion. More than a lab manual or workbook, this text contains detailed math and physics that expand upon concepts presented in Ahrens' text, as well as numerous solved problems. This text demonstrates how to use mathematical equations (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and finite differential equations) to explain the dominant characteristics of certain atmospheric phenomena and processes.

A Vast Machine: Computer Models, Climate Data, and the Politics of Global Warming ReviewUnderstanding how we know about climate, and even what it means to know about climate and climate change, is essential if we are to have an informed debate. This is far and away the best book I have read on the infrastructure behind our knowledge of climate change, how that infrastructure developed, and how the infrastructure shapes our understanding.
The story begins in the 1600s as systematic collection of weather data began (at least in the modern period, other cultures such as the Chinese have older records and it would be interesting to unearth these, although the data normalization issues would be extreme). It picks up speed in the 19th C with global trade and then the telegraph. The more data collected, and the more data is exchanged, the more important it becomes to normalize data for comparison. Normalization requires some form of data model, a theory that makes the data meaningful. Indeed, this is Edwards point, all data about weather and climate only becomes meaningful in the context of a model (this is of course generally true).
Work accelerated during WW2 and then exploded in the 50s and 60s as computers became more available. The role played by John Von Neumann in this is fascinating, as is the nugget that his second wife Klara Von Neumann taught early weather scientists how to program (there is a whole hidden history of the role of woman in developing computer programming that needs to be written - or if you know of one please add it to the comments of this review or tweet it to me @StevenForth).
Edwards also introduces some useful concepts such as Data Friction and Computational Friction. I think my company can apply these in its own work, so for me this has been a very practical text.
Modern models of climate are complex and are growing more so. They have to be to integrate data from multiple sources. One of the main lines of evidence for climate change is that data from many different sources are converging to suggest that climate change is a real and accelerating phenomena. One can meaningfully ask if this convergence is an artifact of the models, although this appears unlikely given the diversity of the data and models. But Edwards shows that it is idiotic to claim that the data and the models can be meaningfully separated. This is true in all science and not just climate science. A theory is a model to normalize and integrate data and to uncover and make meaningful relations between disparate data. That these models are now expressed numerically in computations, rather than as differential equations or sentences in a human language or drawings is one of the major shifts of the information age. It will be interesting to dig deeper into the formal relations between these diffferent modeling languages.A Vast Machine: Computer Models, Climate Data, and the Politics of Global Warming OverviewThe science behind global warming, and its history: how scientistslearned to understand the atmosphere, to measure it, to trace its past, and to modelits future.

Climate Change in Prehistory: The End of the Reign of Chaos ReviewAt first I thought that "Climate Change in Prehistory" was too academic and stuffed with dry facts for the non-specialist reader. I changed my mind by the end.
There are certainly lots of facts and technical jargon, but these are enlivened by occasional gems of dry humour. The author has also struck a good balance with technical jargon.
The book is easy to read, although it is not a "popular" account by any means.
The author handles controversial topics well: such as the date of human occupation of the Amercas and the extinction of megafauna in Australia and the Americas. He presents the relevant research (including the occasional crackpot theory) and indicates where consensus or controversy exist.
Readers who want to dig deeper into specific issues have plenty of references and an excellent bibliography to get them started.
The book covers a surprisingly wide range of topics. For example, the effects of changing diets (meat vs carbohydrates) as humans changed from being hunter-gatherers to farmers is
described. The author seems to come to an implicit conclusion in relation to modern diets, but I won't give the game away by revealing it here.
Ancient history is generally taught as starting with the Egyptians and Mesopotamian civilisations, so most students have never been exposed to descriptions of what came before the
evolution of large, settled societies - probably because little beyond conjecture was known until quite recently.
Books such as "Climate Change in Prehistory" show how much we have learned about climate in pre-history in recent decades - and how much a study of the remote past can illuminate current
climate debates.
I was struck by how well Burroughs integrates information from a remarkably wide range of data into his book - ice cores, linguistics, pollen studies, oceanic sediments, tree rings to name just a few.
Readers new to the subject, or who are looking for a less-technical account, might be better off reading "The Long Summer" (Fagan) and "The Little Ice Age" (Grove). These are both excellent introductions to climate and its effects on humans since the last ice age.
"Climate Change in Prehistory" is an excellent book for readers who want to know the latest thinking about how climate has varied and affected humans since the last ice age.
Climate Change in Prehistory: The End of the Reign of Chaos OverviewHow did humankind deal with the extreme challenges of the last Ice Age? How have the relatively benign post-Ice Age conditions affected the evolution and spread of humanity across the globe? By setting our genetic history in the context of climate change during prehistory, the origin of many features of our modern world are identified and presented in this illuminating book. It reviews the aspects of our physiology and intellectual development that have been influenced by climatic factors, and how features of our lives - diet, language and the domestication of animals - are also the product of the climate in which we evolved. In short: climate change in prehistory has in many ways made us what we are today. Climate Change in Prehistory weaves together studies of the climate with anthropological, archaeological and historical studies, and will fascinate all those interested in the effects of climate on human development and history.

Hurricane Watch: Forecasting the Deadliest Storms on Earth ReviewEver since I was a child trapped inside by the pouring rain as the remnants of Camille passed over East Tennessee, I have been fascinated by hurricanes. With that in mind, this book was hard to resist. Especially since I had spent many hours watching Dr. Sheets on television. It is pretty obvious though that Jack Williams did most of the writing and for those of us who are not that familiar with the science of meteorology that is a very good thing for this is a very complicated subject and dumbing down is exactly what I needed.
This book is not so much a book about major hurricanes as it is a history of the predicting of hurricanes. From Columbus to the present satellites and Doppler systems this book tells the story of man's attempts to guess what Mother Nature is up to. There is even a chapter about attempts to actually control hurricanes.
Even with the simple way the authors attempted to tell their story I was lost at times but not all too often. For a trained meteorologist this book would probably seem almost childish, but for the average person like myself it is just about right. I still don't completely understand everything about wind sheer, computer models, and latent heat but I am at least familiar with the terms now. From now on, as a hurricane approaches the U.S. coast and I sit there in front of the TV I will have a vague idea of how the computer models work and will know all about the Bermuda high.
The chapter I found the most interesting was the chapter about hurricane Andrew. That is the kind of thing I was actually looking for in this book but even though I only found one chapter of what I had been looking for, I still found this book to be highly informative, interesting, and well written. I imagine that Dr. Sheets could write an entire book on Andrew, and I wish he wouldHurricane Watch: Forecasting the Deadliest Storms on Earth Overview

Climate, History and the Modern World ReviewI used this book as a reference to write a position paper on global warming for a graduate course in Environmental Science. Professor Lamb's book is a fascinating account of how climate has impacted human history. Originally published in 1982 the new edition (1995) includes material on global warming, atmospheric pollution, population growth, and implications for future climatic fluctuations. This is a one stop reference.Climate, History and the Modern World OverviewWe live in a world that is increasingly vulnerable to climatic shocks - affecting agriculture and industry, government and international trade, not to mention human health and happiness. Serious anxieties have been aroused by respected scientists warning of dire perils that could resultfrom upsets of the climatic regime. In this internationallyacclaimed book, Emeritus Professor Hubert Lamb examines what we know about climate, how the past record of climate can be reconstructed, the causes of climatic variation, and its impact on human affairs now and in the historical and prehistoric past. This 2nd Edition includes a new Preface and Postscript reviewing the wealth of literature to emerge in recent years, and discusses implications for a deeper understanding of the problems of future climatic fluctuations and forecasting.

Radiative Transfer in the Atmosphere and Ocean (Cambridge Atmospheric and Space Science Series) ReviewThe service provided is indeed very good. However, inevitably there exist some printing mistakes in this hard cover edition. Some pages are confused with others, also some characters are printed wrong. That's why I just give it 4 stats other than 5.Radiative Transfer in the Atmosphere and Ocean (Cambridge Atmospheric and Space Science Series) OverviewThis text provides a foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of radiative transfer, for advanced students of atmospheric, oceanic and environmental sciences. The transfer of solar and infrared radiation through optically-thick clouds, aerosol layer, and the oceanic mixed layer is presented through the use of heuristic models of scattering and absorption, and a systematic approach to formulation and solution of the radiative transfer equation. Problems such as the the transmission of ultraviolet radiation through the atmosphere and ocean, remote sensing, solar heating and infrared cooling processes, UV biological dose rates, and Greenhouse warming are solved using a variety of methods. This self-contained, systematic treatment will prepare students from a range of disciplines in problems concerning the effects of solar and infrared radiation on natural systems. The hardback edition received excellent reviews.

Earth's Climate: Past and Future ReviewI read this book twice, and wished I had had something like this available to me a few years ago, when I started venturing out into the unnumbered feedback loops, geochemical vagaries and regional idiosyncracies of Quaternary paleoclimatology, trying to form a general picture of it all. But this text isn't just about the Quaternary, mind you, this is a complete introduction to the main issues in Earth's climatology.
That it's mainly PALEOclimatology is unavoidable, since in my opinion "present climatology" is like a nonsense... Climate is an averaged evaluation of regional or global meteorological parameters through time, and the "present" is always too short for such an evaluation. Insight on climate evolution is only gained looking back in time, and projecting our analyses to an immediate future, so it's a science strictly dependent on timescales and perspectives... What we can tentatively tell about our climatic future is still too uncertain, but what was in the past is still available to inform and inspire us to further research, that's why Ruddiman's work is mainly about understanding what happened in the past...
My cheap philosophy aside, I think the author's aim was to introduce the subject from the basics, at a simplified level, in order to teach what kind of processes and interactions are involved in determining Earth's climate and its variability, without having inexperienced readers bogged down into technicalities of all sorts and all together (the necessary way of scientific articles delving deeper into any one very specific topic!). Hypotheses, problems and events are introduced gradually, with a captivating detective-like style, and the telescopic time-perspective (from longer geotectonic time-scales all the way down to centennial and decadal patterns and phenomena, dutifully lingering upon the Milankovic pacemaker) is just what's needed to have the right feeling brought home to students of how the Earth system evolves..
Details of this and that research threads are omitted to aid understanding of the general picture. Bibliographic references provide other information sources for those interested in more..
My own perplexity is on the second chapter: I doubt that such a quick overview of the workings of atmosphere and oceans is enough for those students that never touched any textbooks of meteorology or oceanography. A chapter twice as long would be more informative, I guess making those processes clearer at the outset of the journey would make several students more confident and help them grasp more of what will follow. I know the book is bulky enough already, but more pages and explanations need to be added to the second chapter for teaching's sake...
I have to disagree with the previous reviewer's negativity.. This is an introductory textbook, if any (paleo)climatologist's views had to be included, an encyclopedia would hardly be enough room for all of them!! The last two chapters, on global warming and future climate variability, are the best example of Ruddiman's balance and caution in explaining hypotheses, alternatives, possible fallacies and biases of sorts. As to the reviewer's question, "Who couldn't get a five-star rating discussing climate change and global warming with such a leitmotif?", I invite him to read my review of W.J.Burroughs' "Climate Change: a Multidisciplinary Approach" on the Amazon.co.uk website...
I really hope to see a second edition of Ruddiman's work in the next years, when times will be ripe for exciting updates and more hypotheses to tell...Earth's Climate: Past and Future OverviewWritten from a multidisciplinary perspective by one of the field's preeminent researcher/instructors, Earth's Climate: Past and Future became a classroom favorite by providing an expert summary of climate change past, present, and future. The text worked equally well as either a nonmajors introduction to Earth system science or climate change, or as an upper-undergraduate-level overview of the processes and techniques in climate science.

The Rough Guide to Climate Change, 2nd Edition ReviewI am using the Rough Guide to Climate change in a college course that I am currently taking about global warming and climate change. The second edition wasn't out when I started the class, so I started with the first edition and then switched when this edition did come out.
The book is a perfect example of how to write a science book for nonscientists. I have a degree in environmental science, but climate science involves so many disciplines that it is hard for even a trained professional to keep up and digest the information from all the various fields. Henson has done a remarkable job of taking the science and laying it out in an easy to understand way and in a very logical sequence.
The book is broken into parts in a flow that works well. The first section is about the basics of climate change, the second is about the symptoms we are or will be seeing as a result of climate change, the third is about the actual science behind climate change and the fourth presents a nicely balanced set of solutions and some of the detractors from those solutions. There is also a very comprehensive further exploration section at the rear.
The book is up to date and is, by far, the best source of scientific information available to the general reader about global warming. Buy it now...it might change your mind!
The Rough Guide to Climate Change, 2nd Edition OverviewThe Rough Guide to Climate Change gives the complete picture of the single biggest issue facing the planet. Cutting a swathe through scientific research and political debate, this completely updated 2nd edition lays out the facts and assesses the options- global and personal- for dealing with the threat of a warming world. The guide looks at the evolution of our atmosphere over the last 4.5 billion years and what computer simulations of climate change reveal about our past, present, and future. This updated edition includes new information from the 2007 report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and an updated politics section to reflect post-Kyoto developments. Discover how rising temperatures and sea levels, plus changes to extreme weather patterns, are already affecting life around the world. The guide unravels how governments, scientists and engineers plan to tackle the problem and includes in-depth information and lifestyle tips about what you can do to help.

Introduction To Three-dimensional Climate Modeling ReviewWhile this isn't a complete introduction, and while it may inevitably be slightly out of date, this is nonetheless the best introduction to climate modeling I've found. It presents the primary methods, and discusses the accomplishments and shortcomings of the field honestly (if at times a bit defensively).
There are clear limitations to climate modeling. For anyone with training in more mainstream Artificial Intelligence techniques, it's very uncomfortable to "test on the training data," which is exactly what climate modelers must do (i.e., they must run their models on the recent past, and if their models don't perform well on it, they will be tweaked until they do--effectively "cheating" because fidelity to the recent past is obviously no indication of predictive power if you tweak the model specifically to work on the recent past). Much of the uncertainty comes from sub-grid interactions that must be parameterized. For example, the formation of clouds is still an area of great uncertainty, and yet has an enormous effect on the climate. The authors recognize this issue, and identify it as a field where future research should focus.
On the other hand, climate modeling has been extremely useful as an inspiration to the imagination, and in working out the logical implications of what we currently believe to be true (both through those things that can be tested in a lab, like the absorption spectrum of carbon dioxide, or those that need to be parameterized, like cloud formation). We can't predict the future, but models allow us to get a sense of what may happen.
The authors discuss all of this, and illustrate it throughout. Of course, as scientists who have spent their lives in climate modeling, they are as supportive of climate modeling as one might expect. But they are also good scientists, and therefore open about the shortcomings.
In short, I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants an introduction to climate modeling. It's a fascinating and important subject that more people should know more about.Introduction To Three-dimensional Climate Modeling OverviewThis book provides an introduction to the development of three-dimensional climate models, including their four major components: atmosphere, ocean, land/vegetation, and sea ice. The fundamental processes in each component and the interactions among them are explained using basic scientific principles, and elements of the numerical methods used in solving the model equations are also provided. The authors show how the theory and models grew historically and how well they are able to account for known aspects of the climate system. This book is written so that a reader who is only vaguely aware of climate models will be able to gain an understanding of what the models are attempting to simulate, how the models are constructed, what the models have succeeded in simulating, and how the models are being used. Examples illustrating the use of the models to simulate aspects of the current climate system are followed by examples illustrating the application of the models to important scientific areas such as understanding paleoclimates, the last millennium, the El Nino/Southern Oscillation, and the effects of increasing greenhouse gas concentrations on future climate change. The book is appropriate for scientists, graduate students, and upper-level undergraduates and can be used as a textbook or for self study and reference. The authors have considerably updated the book from the first edition by adding descriptions of many techniques and results developed since the mid-1980s.

Weather Map Handbook (Second Edition) ReviewI recently began to pursue a life long interest in learning more about severe weather; it's forecasting and impact on the environment. As my search for materials to help me learn expanded and my research came to its peak, I kept getting the same feedback from all the various web sites and sources. "Pick up anything from Tim Vasquez."
I have looked high and low for anything that didn't require a physics degree to read and I have found that in every single book I have purchased with his name on it. His books have excited me even more about severe weather and led me down the path to becoming a trained spotter with Skywarn. I cannot recommend his books highly enough.
Weather Map Handbook (Second Edition) OverviewThe science of forecasting has not changed, but the Internet and new marvels of technology have completely redefined the process. It's not a rare thing for weather hobbyists and National Weather Service forecasters to get a product from the very same site. With more and more charts and tools appearing on the Internet by the week, how do you make sense of the avalanche of weather imagery and data? Using a double-page format, the Weather Map Handbook demonstrates nearly every type of weather map, image, and product in common use. An overview of each item's origin, purpose, shortfalls, and tips are outlined. Standards for analysis symbology and chart markings are summarized. The surface, 850 mb, 700 mb, 500 mb, and 300-200 mb charts get two pages each, complete with philosophy, objectives, and techniques for each chart. Thickness, isentropic, and Q vector products get their own sections. The WSR-88D doppler radar, in use by the United States weather services, has played a vast part in the weather information revolution. In the Weather Map Handbook, it gets thirty pages packed with the fundamentals and algorithms of the WSR-88D. Much of this information is obscure and nearly impossible to find. From the workings of the Composite Reflectivity product to the exact process used by the Mesocyclone Detection Algorithm to deconstruct a radar scan, any NEXRAD radar product on the Internet can be understood. From the WRF to the NGM, from the GFS to the GEM, each numerical forecast model is revealed in incredible detail. Ensemble forecasts are highlighted. The satellite chapter explains visible, infrared, and water vapor imagery, how it is created, and how to interpret it. Essentials of Meteorology: An Invitation to the Atmosphere ReviewI am a college student at the Univeristy of Colorado at Boulder. I was required to read Ahrens book and I found it very helpful and informative. At times it was a little dull and simple, but it covered the atmosphere and weather related topics extremely well. I recommend this text to anyone interested in weather. The pictures and graphs were great too!Essentials of Meteorology: An Invitation to the Atmosphere OverviewThis updated and enhanced sixth edition of ESSENTIALS OF METEOROLOGY is written by the widely read and authoritative author in introductory meteorology--Donald Ahrens. Ahrens's ability to explain relatively complicated ideas in a student-friendly, manageable fashion will allow you to easily visualize the principles of meteorology. ESSENTIALS OF METEOROLOGY is completely updated with over 250 new images and figures and the latest research and coverage.

It is a really good book for the beginner who want to know more about meteorology.Meteorology Today With Infotrac: An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment OverviewAhren's METEOROLOGY TODAY is the # 1 text in the market! This text presents the fundamental concepts of meteorology in the context of everyday weather observations. This is a perfect blend of theory and application in meteorology. The book features a traditional yet flexible organization, moving from atmospheric elements to air movement to severe weather, then finally global and climate change.Ahren's successfully excites the student reader by teaching them to actively observe the weather. The organization contains enough detail to provide a higher level student with the detail he/she needs, as well as an accessible writing style for the weaker student. Meteorology Today: An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment. Study Guide/Workbook ReviewWe looking for the actual textbook and saw that this had the same picture on the front and thought it was a paperback version of the same book. It did not state anywhere that it was a workbook that we could find. So, we got the book and found that it was the workbook and not the textbook. We kept it to help with homework, but overall, we wish we would have known before we bought it.Meteorology Today: An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment. Study Guide/Workbook OverviewWritten by the author, the Workbook and Study Guide reinforce concepts students learn in METEOROLOGY TODAY, Ninth Edition. Each chapter contains a summary of the text, a list of important concepts, self-tests with answers (which include multiple choice, true/false, matching, short answer, and/or fill in the blank), and a list of additional readings.

Meteorology Today: An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment (with InfoTrac and Blue Skies CD-ROM) ReviewThis is a great book. It was expensive (aren't all college textbooks?), but worth it.
As a beginning weather hobbyist with a new weather station, I have been looking at many weather books over the past couple months. I have been disappointed. Most seem geared to elementary school levels. A couple handfuls are for the general population, a few intermediate, and a couple handfuls are for more advanced hobbyists or professionals.
This book was one of the very few that I would strongly recommend. The information is great and presented very well. It is colorful and slick (yes, substance is more important than slickness, but this book has both).
I found the CD less than useful, so I tried it and removed it. You won't be missing anything, really. The book has it all. Just a great book.Meteorology Today: An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment (with InfoTrac and Blue Skies CD-ROM) OverviewMETEOROLOGY TODAY has for many years been one of the most widely used and authoritative texts for the introductory meteorology course. Each edition is extensively reviewed by leading researchers in the field to ensure that the text remains completely up-to-date and reflects today's current understanding of meteorological concepts. Author Donald Ahrens has been widely praised for his ability to explain relatively complicated ideas so that even under-prepared students can understand them. The text's clear and inviting presentation is supplemented by numerous pedagogical features that help augment students' understanding. Introductory stories found at the beginning of each chapter draws students naturally into the discussion. In-chapter reviews then help students to consolidate their understanding as they read, while four types of end-of-chapter exercises provide opportunities for everything from further review to in-class discussion questions. Graphics are carefully designed and subsequently refined so that the key ideas clearly emerge. Many of the photos in the book are taken by the author and provide unmatched images of dramatic weather phenomena. A unique and popular feature over this title's seven editions has been the foldout cloud chart at the back of the book. A wealth of online resources accompanies METEOROLOGY TODAY, Seventh Edition, allowing professors to integrate striking and illuminative interactive weather exercises into their course. Many of the exercises on the BLUE SKIES CD-ROM packaged FREE with each new copy of the text are tied to downloadable real-time weather data, offering instructors an easy way to bring the exploration of current weather events into the course discussion.

Weather Map Handbook ReviewI do a lot of sailing, and really needed something to guide me through all of the available charts. I'm glad to say that this title measures up in every regard. It covers each type of weather chart, one by one, such as the Surface Chart, 700 mb Chart, and so on, presents an example, and scrutinizes the purpose and utility of each one. It even covers forecast models and radar products. This really is a unique (and welcome) departure from the format of other weather books. I found that the Weather Map Handbook gave me some excellent insight into understanding the weather systems that I have to deal with on the Gulf Coast. My only beef with the book is that it needs a few more marine-oriented charts. Some color maps would be nice, but this doesn't really detract from the book. Two thumbs up!Weather Map Handbook OverviewThe Weather Map Handbook explains nearly every forecasting chart used in meteorology. It's designed especially for the Internet, showing how to predict weather from scratch using the same charts that professional meteorologists use.A complete listing of weather map symbols, iconographs, and decoding information fills the pages. It's perfect for hobbyists, pilots, students, broadcasters, and storm chasers.Using a double-page format, the Weather Map Handbook demonstrates nearly every type of weather map, image, and product in common use. Topping off the book is an appendix with surface and upper-level station plot models, a vast technical glossary compiled from the depths of the NWS, SPC, and NCEP, and much more.
